Launch Operations Engineer (All levels)

Job description

Application close date: Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the requisition is closed. At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We’re working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!  This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable. As a Launch Operations Engineer, you will lead the design and implementation of efficient manufacturing and launch systems, ensuring stringent quality control throughout production and operations. You will own the planning and execution of launch vehicle testing, as well as vehicle configuration for launch. This role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams to streamline operations, optimize supply chain logistics, reduce costs, and enhance production timelines. Special Mentions Shifts available: D Shift: Fri-Sun (5pm-5am) Location: Space Coast, FL Relocation: Available Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Support the industrialization of new products in areas such as solar arrays, integration and test, avionics, and structures. Contribute to design for manufacturability (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), design for test (DFT), key to building reliable vehicles for space exploration. Translate engineering requirements into robust, repeatable manufacturing processes that support Blue Origin’s mission. Collaborate closely with design engineering, quality assurance, supply chain, and production teams to accelerate building a road to space. Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process flow diagrams, tool designs, and inspection plans. Evaluate and implement new manufacturing technologies and methods (e.g., composites, precision machining, additive manufacturing, advanced assembly). Support root cause analysis of process or product non-conformances; develop and implement corrective actions that enhance reliability and performance. Ensure all work aligns with applicable quality and safety standards (AS9100, ISO 9001), supporting a safe and sustainable future in space. Identify and complete opportunities for efficiency gains and cost reduction, optimizing our ability to achieve our mission at scale. Develop and execute test procedures of facility sub-systems to satisfy program objectives Design, plan, fabricate, install, and operate pneumatic and cryogenic test capabilities Develop test methods to efficiently complete integrated system testing Maintain fluids test equipment configuration control, calibration, and traceability Write test procedures, manage procedural red lines, and incorporate updates during test campaigns Team Focus & Domain Expertise As a Launch Operations Engineer, you’ll help drive the rate and reliability of New Glenn. This team doesn’t just maintain hardware; we continuously reinvent it to enable a step‑change in launch cadence and reliability. You’ll bring (and grow) technical depth in one or more of: cryogenics, pneumatics, hydraulics, mechanical systems and large structures, electronics and transducers, PLCs, and/or software. Your curiosity and ability to quickly learn across disciplines will be your superpower as you become a true subject matter expert on your systems and use that insight to drive meaningful innovation. Safety excellence is our foundation. You’ll apply safety‑by‑design thinking to complex, high‑energy systems while pushing reliability higher and operations faster, helping transform New Glenn infrastructure to support dozens of launches per year. Engineers who thrive here pair strong technical judgment with bold ideas—and feel a real jolt of excitement seeing their designs help launch one of the world’s most powerful rockets into orbit.
