Week in Space Data, every Friday.
The data behind SpaceNexus, as CSV or JSON. No account, no key: download it, cite it, mirror it. Our own data is CC BY 4.0, and every file says which columns come from someone else and credits them. Need it live in code? Get a free API key.
Published funding rounds with dates, amounts, series labels, post-money valuations, lead investors and the source each row was taken from.
The selection, classification and structure are SpaceNexus, CC BY 4.0. Each round's facts are as reported by the source named in its row; credit that source too. We do not relicense a source's own content.
Our columns (CC BY 4.0): company_slug, round_type, amount_note, evidence.
Credit: The source named in each row (SEC EDGAR filings, company announcements, news publishers) for company, date, amount_usd, series, post_valuation_usd, lead_investor, source, source_url. Not relicensed by SpaceNexus.
Flown launch attempts by orbital-class vehicles since 2024-11-18, with mission, vehicle, provider, site and outcome, as Launch Library 2 lists them.
The launch facts are Launch Library 2 by The Space Devs and are not relicensed by SpaceNexus: credit The Space Devs when you reuse them. Only the outcome mapping is SpaceNexus (CC BY 4.0).
Our columns (CC BY 4.0): outcome.
Credit: Launch Library 2 by The Space Devs for date_utc, mission, rocket, provider, country, site. Not relicensed by SpaceNexus.
Per-vehicle record computed from the launch log: attempts, successes, partial failures, failures, success rate (full successes / attempts; a partial failure is not a success), first flight in the log and last flight. Grouped on the vehicle name as reported, so variants stay distinct.
The counts and rates are computed by SpaceNexus, CC BY 4.0. Vehicle and provider names, and the flights counted, come from Launch Library 2 by The Space Devs: credit them too.
Our columns (CC BY 4.0): attempts, successes, partial_failures, failures, success_rate_pct, first_flight_in_log_utc, last_flight_utc.
Credit: Launch Library 2 by The Space Devs for rocket, provider. Not relicensed by SpaceNexus.
Every launch date change SpaceNexus observed in Launch Library 2's upcoming-launch feed (orbital and suborbital launches) since 2026-08-29, netted per launch per UTC day exactly as /launch-slips counts them: the old and new dates at their precision, the size and kind of the move, and whether there is evidence our sync only caught up with it later (catch-up) or not (live). No upstream revision feed exists, so it cannot be backfilled and only grows.
The ledger (when each change was observed, whether it was seen live, its size and its classification) is SpaceNexus, CC BY 4.0. Launch ids, names, the manifest dates and their precision come from Launch Library 2 by The Space Devs: credit them too.
Our columns (CC BY 4.0): observed_utc, observation, catch_up_reason, from_label, to_label, from_precision_basis, to_precision_basis, date_move_days, date_move_hours, move_kind, counts_as_slip, moves_netted.
Credit: Launch Library 2 by The Space Devs for ll2_launch_id, provider_last_updated_utc, mission, rocket, provider, from_date_utc, to_date_utc, from_precision, to_precision. Not relicensed by SpaceNexus.
Daily open-role counts per tracked company from public job-board snapshots, one row per company per day since 2026-08-13. The series behind Hiring Trends.
SpaceNexus measurement (daily counts of public job postings), CC BY 4.0: free to reuse with attribution.
Leadership changes found by the SpaceNexus news scan and matched to a known space company, each with a link to the news item it was found in. Small and growing; the curated history on /executive-moves is not in this file because it has no per-row source.
SpaceNexus compilation, CC BY 4.0; each row links the news item it was found in. The articles themselves remain their publishers'.
The live files above change as the data does. For a number that must never move under a citation, use a frozen edition: each one has its own permanent address and the same rows every time you fetch it (an owner correction, if one is ever made, is recorded inside the file).
Quarterly space funding edition (quarterly; the CSV holds every round the edition counted, oldest first)
Launch Slip Index (monthly) (monthly; the CSV holds the provider table (slips, pull-ins, launches slipped, slip days, same-day changes, firmed, lost dates, placeholder rolls))
Slip Watch (weekly) (weekly; the CSV holds the provider table (slips, pull-ins, launches slipped, slip days, same-day changes, firmed, lost dates, placeholder rolls))
The sourced lunar datasets behind the US vs China Moon race tracker, and the Promise Ledger of dated space commitments. CC BY 4.0; every row cites its sources.
DOI for the three Race to the Moon files (one Zenodo record): https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.22985974
DOI for the Promise Ledger: https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.22985970
Attribution: “Data: SpaceNexus, https://spacenexus.us/datasets”, and the credits a file lists for any third-party columns.
Licence: SpaceNexus data is CC BY 4.0: use it commercially, remix it, redistribute it, with the attribution line. Facts we take from others are not ours to license and we never relabel them: launch facts come from Launch Library 2 by The Space Devs (a volunteer nonprofit: support them on Patreon), and each funding round names its source. Each card above says exactly which columns are which.
Need a warranty or a change feed for our own data? Ask about a commercial licence. The attribution line stays either way.
Citing a live file: it is a snapshot, versioned by its UTC date. For example: SpaceNexus. (2026). SpaceNexus Launch Slip Ledger (Version 2026-10-17) [Data set]. https://spacenexus.us/datasets#launch-slips. Licensed CC BY 4.0.
Inside every file: the version and as-of date, the licence and credits, a ready-made citation (and BibTeX in the JSON), and rows-sha256, a SHA-256 checksum of the data, so a cited file can be checked later. For pandas or a spreadsheet, add ?preamble=none to a CSV address for the bare header and rows (or read it with pd.read_csv(url, comment='#')).
DOIs: the Race to the Moon data and the Promise Ledger have DOIs on Zenodo, shown next to them above. The other datasets and edition series do not have one yet; their Zenodo deposits are coming.
Freshness and limits: live files are read from the database at most every 10 minutes (counts on this page as of Oct 16, 2026). Downloads are limited to 30 files per 10 minutes per IP address. For code that polls, use the open JSON feeds or a free API key (100 req/day, 20/min, 2 keys).
On-Time Launch Report (quarterly) (quarterly; the CSV holds every flown launch with its baseline date and delay)
The full list, with every licence and DOI, is machine-readable at /api/datasets.
How to cite each one: the “Cite and reuse this data” box on its page.
Money never touches data: no dataset has a sponsored row, a paid column or a paid order. Found an error? Report it; corrections are logged with dates.
