Week in Space Data, every Friday.
Monthly ranking · September 2026
Ranked by net open roles added between a company’s first and last job-board snapshot inside September 2026. Hiring is the least-gameable public signal a private space company emits: job counts move before press releases do. Site-wide, 9,905 roles were open at month end.
Correction, 6 Oct 2026: from 5 October until this date, this edition's top-10 and fastest-mover tables left out every employer whose counting rule we changed on 5 October, including SpaceX, the largest employer we track, because that later change was wrongly applied to this month's figures. The tables now show the month as it was recorded.

Correction, 27 Oct 2026: until this date, this edition's same-employer change read -2,089 (-65.7%) and the Hiring Index 34.3, and its fastest-decliners table led with Anduril at -2,061. That was a change in how we count, not in hiring: on 26 September we narrowed Anduril, Hadrian and Hermeus to space-segment roles (Anduril went from 2,375 postings to 124; Hadrian and Hermeus to none), a day before our jobs sync began logging such changes, so the comparison never learned of them. As the method says for any employer whose counting rule changed during the month, those three are now left out of the September comparison, and Anduril's movers reading starts on 26 September. The same-employer change now reads +177 (+22.5%) across 21 employers, and the index 122.5. The headline totals and the top 10 did not change.

Coverage change inside this month
