SpaceNexus on Android: Install the Web App Today, Google Play Listing Pending

Correction (September 27, 2026): an earlier version of this post, published March 18, 2026, said SpaceNexus was available on Google Play and told readers to download it there. That was wrong: the Android app was built, but its Google Play listing has not been published and is still pending, and there is no iPhone App Store app. On Android you can install SpaceNexus from Chrome today as a web app (menu, then Install app or Add to Home screen); the steps are on spacenexus.us/app. The title and the sentences below that described a live Play Store app have been corrected.

We built an Android version of SpaceNexus, and its Google Play listing is pending. Until it is live, the way to put SpaceNexus on an Android phone is to install it from your browser as a web app: it gets its own home-screen icon, opens full screen and works with the same account.

Rather than building a separate native app that would lag behind our web platform, we chose a Trusted Web Activity (TWA) approach for the Android build. It wraps our existing Progressive Web App (PWA) in a lightweight Android shell that:

• Launches with no URL bar, so it looks and feels like a native app
• Stays in sync with every web deployment automatically
• Supports push notifications via service workers
• Caches for offline use with TTL-aware caching strategies
• Weighs about 3.4 MB
