SpaceNexus Is Now on Google Play: Space Intelligence in Your Pocket
The SpaceNexus Android app brings the full power of our space industry intelligence platform to your phone. Track launches, monitor markets, and receive real-time alerts — all from Google Play.
Today we're excited to announce that SpaceNexus is now available on Google Play. After 76 waves of recursive development and 160+ articles published, we're bringing the full SpaceNexus experience to Android devices.
Why Mobile Matters for Space Intelligence
Space doesn't operate on a 9-to-5 schedule. Launches happen at 3 AM. Solar flares can impact satellite operations without warning. Funding rounds close while you're away from your desk. Having space intelligence in your pocket means you never miss a critical moment.
The SpaceNexus Android app isn't a stripped-down mobile version — it's the full platform, optimized for mobile with native features like push notifications, offline caching, and app shortcuts.
What You Get
- Live Launch Tracking: Real-time countdowns and mission status for every orbital launch worldwide. Get push notifications before liftoff
- Satellite Tracker: Track 10,000+ satellites including Starlink, ISS, and classified payloads in real time
- Market Intelligence: Space stocks, funding rounds, M&A deals, and sector trends at your fingertips
- Space Weather Alerts: Solar flare notifications, geomagnetic storm tracking, and aurora forecasts
- 160+ Original Articles: The largest free space content library on the internet, from investment guides to engineering deep-dives
- Offline Mode: Cached data lets you browse even without connectivity — essential for conference halls and remote locations
Our Technical Approach
Rather than building a separate native app that would lag behind our web platform, we chose a Trusted Web Activity (TWA) approach. This wraps our existing Progressive Web App (PWA) in a lightweight Android shell that:
- Launches instantly with no URL bar — it looks and feels like a native app
- Automatically stays in sync with every web deployment
- Supports push notifications via service workers
- Caches aggressively for offline use with TTL-aware caching strategies
- Weighs only ~3.4 MB to install
This means that when we ship improvements to spacenexus.us, Android users get them immediately — no app store update required.
Data Safety & Privacy
We've published a comprehensive Data Safety page that details exactly what data we collect, how it's used, and your choices. Key commitments: we never sell your data, all transmissions are encrypted, and you can delete your account at any time.
What's Next
The Android launch is just the beginning. We're working on:
- Push notification channels: Subscribe to specific alert types (launches, funding rounds, space weather)
- Home screen widgets: At-a-glance countdown timers and market snapshots
- iOS App Store submission: Bringing SpaceNexus to iPhone and iPad
- Wearable integration: Launch alerts on your smartwatch
