- Job Title: Security Officer – Classified Information - Department: ICEYE Germany - Location: Germany (Berlin) - Reports to: CEO, ICEYE Germany - Employment type: Permanent - Working type: On-Site - Employment is subject to applicable security screening (incl. SUPO, where required) THE MISSION OF THE SECURITY OFFICER Build and own the classified information security posture that lets ICEYE Germany operate at every classification level our customers require — from VS-NfD through VS-VERTRAULICH, GEHEIM, and beyond, including the corresponding NATO and EU equivalents. You are the person who turns a blank page into a defensible, audit-ready security framework. You will design it, run it, and represent it to the German authorities who decide whether we can sit at the table on the most sensitive national security work in Europe. You are also the trusted advisor who helps our German industry partners reach the posture they need to deliver alongside us. This is a foundational role. You will not inherit a finished framework — you will build it, and you will be measured on outcomes twelve months from your start date. Define and execute the twelve-month plan to take ICEYE Germany from current state to fully cleared operations at VS-NfD, VS-VERTRAULICH, and GEHEIM — including facility security clearance (Sicherheitsbescheid), personnel clearances, IT accreditation, and the operational processes that sit underneath. - Be the Sicherheitsbevollmächtigter. Act as the company's official security officer towards BMWi, BfV, BSI, BAAINBw and other relevant authorities. Lead all interactions with the Geheimschutzbetreuende Stelle and represent ICEYE Germany in front of regulators with credibility and precision. - Build the framework. Design and implement policies, SOPs, registries, secure areas (VS-Verwahrgelass / Sicherheitsbereich), VS-NfD-konforme IT, accreditation pathways toward higher classifications, and the audit trail that makes the whole framework defensible. - Run the clearance pipeline. Drive personnel security clearances (Ü1, Ü2, Ü3) across the German organisation in close coordination with People Operations, candidates, and authorities — keeping timelines tight without compromising rigour. - Enable the business. Translate security requirements into language sales, product, and engineering can act on. Unblock bids and customer engagements rather than slow them down. - Lead the partner ecosystem. Serve as the lead figure helping ICEYE Germany's partners and supply chain implement the equivalent posture on their side — from initial assessment through to certification. - Grow the function. Start as an individual contributor with executive backing; scale the team as workload and classification scope demand it. WHAT WE MEASURE AFTER TWELVE MONTHS - ICEYE Germany holds a valid facility security clearance and operates accredited environments at VS-NfD and VS-VERTRAULICH, with a credible, authority-aligned path to GEHEIM. - The core German team holds the personnel clearances required for our priority programmes. - We are able to participate in classified procurements we could not have addressed without this work. - Key industry partners have reached the posture needed for joint delivery. - Audit-ready documentation, exercises, and incident-response procedures are in place and proven. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR - Deep, hands-on knowledge of the German classified information regime: SÜG, VSA, Geheimschutzhandbuch, and the practical workings of Geheimschutzbetreuung by BMWi. - Track record as Sicherheitsbevollmächtigter (or directly equivalent) inside a German defence, intelligence, aerospace, or critical-infrastructure organisation — ideally one that scaled its classification level during your tenure. - Working fluency in NATO and EU classification frameworks (NATO SECRET, EU SECRET) and how they interlock with German national levels. - Credibility with German federal authorities.
