AstroForge is developing technology to mine asteroids for platinum-group metals, with planned refinery missions that process material in space before returning it to Earth.
ACTIVEAstroForge is a commercial space startup focused on asteroid mining and the extraction of platinum group metals; it builds low-cost, replicable spacecraft to track and eventually mine asteroids, with its DeepSpace-2 mission aiming to rendezvous with a metallic asteroid.
AstroForge is an asteroid mining startup aiming to make off-Earth resource extraction commercially viable. The company is developing spacecraft capable of rendezvousing with near-Earth asteroids, extracting platinum-group metals, and refining them in orbit before returning refined material to Earth. Their phased approach begins with technology demonstration missions followed by prospecting and ultimately full-scale mining operations. AstroForge has already flown its first test payload to demonstrate ore-refining processes in microgravity.
