LeoStella, a joint venture between Thales Alenia Space and Spaceflight Inc, designs and manufactures small satellites for LEO constellations at scale.
ACQUIREDLeoStella (now BlackSky Satellite Systems LLC) is a small-satellite design and manufacturing company in Tukwila, Washington, founded in 2018 as a joint venture of Thales Alenia Space and Spaceflight Industries and wholly owned by BlackSky since November 2024.
LeoStella is a joint venture between Thales Alenia Space and Spaceflight Industries (now BlackSky parent) established to design and mass-produce small satellites for low Earth orbit constellations. Based near Seattle, their production facility is optimized for building satellites at volume with consistent quality, supporting BlackSky's constellation as well as third-party customers. LeoStella combines Thales Alenia Space's heritage in satellite manufacturing with agile smallsat development practices, producing compact, capable spacecraft for Earth observation, communications, and other LEO mission profiles.
Not scored The Space Score is a 0 to 1000 snapshot of a space company's size and activity, relative to the other companies we track. It combines size (headcount, market value and revenue, 30%), U.S. federal space contracts (20%), equity raised (15%), momentum (15%) and, for launch companies, orbital launches (20%), so it leans heavily on size. It is descriptive: not a forecast, a rating or investment advice.
This company is not in the Space Score roster. Only company profiles with an active or pre-revenue status are scored.
