Space String is a Chinese plan announced on 25 Sep 2026 for more than 1,000 data and compute satellites by 2035, backed by RMB 10B of bank credit lines. Its first compute verification satellite is planned for Q4 2027; a pair of AI-equipped satellites built by one of its operators flew in August 2026.
Stage 5 of 7: Own satellite flown
STAR.VISION, one of the two operators, launched a pair of satellites it built, with onboard AI processing, on Jielong-3 on 5 Aug 2026; Hangzhou outlets describe a pair launched that day as the constellation's starting satellites. Edge class.[1]
What the stage means: Its own compute satellite flown.

STAR.VISION pair launched on Jielong-3 Y12
Built by STAR.VISION with onboard AI pre-processing (China in Space, which names them as Uzbek and Indonesian Earth-observation satellites). Hangzhou outlets call a pair launched that day the constellation's starting satellites; the builder is reported differently by different outlets.
