Week in Space Data, every Friday.
Spun out of Alphabet in 2022, Aalyria builds network orchestration software and free-space optical communication systems, carrying forward technology from Project Loon and Fsoc.
ACTIVEAalyria builds Spacetime, a managed platform for orchestrating networks in motion across land, sea, air and space, and Tightbeam, free-space optical (laser) communication terminals. Both technologies were developed at Google, from which Aalyria spun out in 2022; Spacetime ran in production on Google's Loon network.
Aalyria's Spacetime platform provides AI-driven network orchestration for heterogeneous communications networks that span satellites, high-altitude platforms, aircraft, ships, and terrestrial infrastructure. Combined with its Tightbeam laser communication hardware, Aalyria enables seamless connectivity management across domains.

Space federal awards
1 award, $393K obligated
Awards with activity since Oct 1, 2018, as searched Sep 24, 2026. Awarded Sep 23, 2024 to Sep 23, 2024; most from NASA (1 award)
Counts awards the government's own product code or programme title marks as space work, or the space research industry code; the satellite-telecoms industry code counts only together with a space agency, office or a space word in the award's own description. Obligated dollars, not ceilings; umbrella contracts (IDVs) are left out because their orders are counted one by one. Amounts as USAspending reported them on Sep 24, 2026.
