Cowboy Space Corporation, formerly Aetherflux, is developing orbital data centers built into the upper stage of its own rocket, alongside the space solar power constellation it was founded to build.
ACTIVEFormerly Aetherflux; renamed Cowboy Space Corporation in May 2026, when it raised its Series B. Develops orbital data centers built into the upper stage of its own rocket, alongside a low Earth orbit constellation that collects solar power and beams it to the ground with infrared lasers.
In May 2026 Aetherflux renamed itself Cowboy Space Corporation and said most of its business would shift to a launch vehicle and in-space computing, while keeping its space solar power constellation. The rest of this overview describes that original power-beaming system. Aetherflux is a space energy startup developing a constellation of satellites in low Earth orbit that collect solar energy and beam it to ground-based receivers using shortwave infrared lasers. Unlike GEO-based space solar concepts, their LEO approach enables smaller, less expensive satellites and more focused energy delivery. The system is designed to provide power on demand to remote locations, disaster zones, military forward operating bases, and off-grid installations where traditional power infrastructure is unavailable or impractical.
Provisional: the latest data refresh looked incomplete and was held, so these scores use inputs measured 2026-10-10.
Rank 110 of 156 ranked companies, shared with 1 other company on the same total. With the pillars we have not measured for this company filled at the 10th and 90th percentiles of the companies we did measure, and every other company held at its published total, the rank is likely between 88 and 140.
3 of 6 inputs measured · Medium confidence · 81% of applicable weight backed by data
Not measured: Market value, Reported revenue
Not measured: Open-role change (90 days)
A pillar score averages the company’s percentiles among the tracked companies with a value: relative standing, not a grade. Inputs measured 2026-10-10 (UTC) · methodology v6. Every input, its value and percentile · How it is computed
