Astranis has pioneered the MicroGEO concept, building geostationary broadband satellites weighing around 400 kg compared to 5,000-6,000 kg for traditional GEO commsats. This dramatically lowers the cost and timeline to deploy dedicated satellite broadband, making it viable for smaller markets and nations that could not previously justify a full-size GEO satellite.
