NSSL tracker: Phase 2 and Phase 3 lanes, task orders, launches and slips

For launch-industry BD teams, investors in SpaceX, ULA, Blue Origin and the Lane 1 entrants, and policy readers tracking assured access to space.

Phase 3 runs two lanes. Lane 1 buys commercial-style launches for missions that can take more risk and adds providers each year; Lane 2 covers the "no fail" missions that need full mission assurance and a certified vehicle. Space Systems Command calls NSSL the single largest procurement activity in the Space Force.

The Space Force certified ULA's Vulcan for national security missions in March 2025. After an anomaly on one of its four solid rocket motors during USSF-87 on February 12, 2026 (the mission still reached orbit), the Space Force moved GPS III-8 from Vulcan to Falcon 9 "while the Vulcan anomaly investigation continues".

In November 2025, after New Glenn's second flight, Space Systems Command said its NSSL certification "continues"; we found no Space Force announcement of New Glenn's certification as of September 27, 2026. Blue Origin was assigned no Lane 2 missions for fiscal 2026. On May 28, 2026 New Glenn had an anomaly during an integrated vehicle hot fire test, the same day the Space Force awarded Blue Origin a Lane 1 task order (Lane 1 does not require certification).
